CIESIN Thematic Guides The International Geosphere-Biosphere Program (IGBP) has established a Data and Information System (DIS) to address the generic issues of data processing and management for land, ocean, and atmosphere systems, in close collaboration with the modeling efforts within IGBP and the IGBP Core Projects. The IGBP Global Change Newsletter (1992) describes the Data and Information System. The IGBP-DIS has been instrumental in promoting development of the Global 1-km Advanced Very High Resolution Radiometer (AVHRR) Database.
