Stakeholder Profile: Norton Basin Edgemere Stewardship Group (NBESG)

Norton Basin Edgemere Stewardship Group (NBESG) is a small grass roots organization with the purpose of keeping a small strip of land running along the South Shore of Norton Basin, starting at 35 Beach Street up to 38 Beach Street, continuing around the south shore towards 41 Beach Street. This tiny wetland buffer which consist of low marsh and high marsh bordered by several undeveloped lots is under constant threat of being destroyed by "bad behavior" of the uninformed population.

Marlen K. Waaijer is the founder and director and has been working with CUNY Brooklyn's Aquatic Research and Environmental Assessment Center (AREAC), National Park Service (NPS), and the Jamaica Bay Guardian.
