The Kiosk - Home Page
Consortium for International Earth Science Information Network
Welcome to the Kiosk. CIESIN, through the Socioeconomic Data and Applications Center (SEDAC) sponsored by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), has created this Kiosk as an interactive electronic forum to facilitate information sharing in support of SEDAC's mission. The Kiosk promotes open discussion in several areas but invites focused deliberation on SEDAC's two primary applications tasks, listed below. The Kiosk further encompasses unpublished papers on more general subjects and provides access to an electronic bookshelf that contains working papers and reports that, while previously published, are less accessible.
Given the acceleration of research in the field and the growing number of less accessible working papers, the relatively slow pace of peer review, publication, and dissemination often results in a significant time lag before materials are available to others doing similar work. The Kiosk addresses these issues head on; it is intended to promote the timely exchange of information among researchers and policy makers, both within and across disciplinary boundaries.
